ENVIRONMENT MONITORING

Environmental monitoring can take many forms ranging from determining particle size and density in ventilation systems to automated machine vision applications.  In many of these applications, lasers have proven to be an invaluable tool.  One of the fastest-growing areas utilizing lasers in environmental monitoring is in the field of gas sensing, where lasers are used to detect gasses ranging from methane leaks in mining facilities to greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.  In other instances, laser gas sensing is used as an early warning standoff detection system for chemical warfare.  Another common environmental monitoring application is laser doppler velocimetry, a method for measuring the velocity of transparent, or semi-transparent fluids.  Unlike its counterpart particle imaging velocimetry, laser doppler velocimetry does not require a particle to be added to the flow, reducing the sample preparation and contamination.  Here at RPMC lasers, we offer a wide range of laser systems and components which are ideally suited to a wide variety of environmental monitoring applications.  On this page, you will find a list of all the environmental monitoring lasers we offer at RPMC.
